Curly Hair Vendor Guide: How to Buy Raw Indian Curly Hair Wholesale

A good curly hair vendor is harder to find than a straight hair supplier. Curls show every shortcut: hair that was steamed into a pattern, mixed from different donors or coated with silicone can look perfect in a photo and then turn frizzy, limp or tangled after the first wash. If you buy for a salon, a wig line or your own hair brand, choosing the right curly hair vendor protects your reviews and your repeat orders. This guide explains the curl types you will see, how natural raw curly hair differs from processed curls, what to test before you order, and how to plan a wholesale curly order from India.

If you are new to sourcing, read our general guide on how to choose raw hair vendors first. This article focuses on what is different when the hair is curly.

Why Curly Hair Needs a Specialist Vendor

Straight hair is forgiving. Small differences in length, density or cuticle direction are easy to hide. Curly hair is not. Each curl pattern behaves like a spring, so any damage to the cuticle or any mix of textures inside one bundle becomes obvious as soon as the hair is washed and air dried.

That is why raw curly hair vendors need careful sorting. Hair has to be grouped not only by length but by how the curl forms, how tight it is and how it behaves when wet. A vendor who simply perms straight hair into curls can produce large volumes quickly, but those curls are created with heat and chemicals and tend to relax or frizz over time. A vendor who sells naturally curly hair has to collect and sort it patiently, which is why genuine raw curly hair is usually more limited than straight stock.

Common Curl Types You Will See From Indian Vendors

Vendors use different names for similar patterns, so always ask for photos or a video of the exact hair rather than relying on the label. These are the names you will meet most often when you shop for raw Indian curly hair.

Natural curly

Natural curly hair has a curl pattern that grew that way on the donor. Indian hair, especially from South India, often has soft waves and curls. Our Natural Curly Wefts (Premium) are made from South Indian raw hair with a natural curly texture, in 100 gram bundles, double stitched and single donor ratio rather than double drawn.

Loose curly

Loose curly hair has larger, softer curls that sit between deep wave and tight curl. It suits buyers who want volume without a very tight pattern. Our Loose Curly Wefts are listed as North Indian Remy or virgin hair, natural black, double drawn and double stitched, in 100 gram bundles.

Kinky curly

Kinky curly is a tighter pattern that many buyers use to blend with natural textured hair. Our Kinky Curly Wefts are listed as North Indian Remy curly hair in 100 gram bundles, single donor ratio and double stitched.

Wavy patterns

Natural wavy and loose wavy hair are not curly, but buyers often order them together with curly lines. If you are unsure which pattern fits your customers, our guide to raw Indian hair textures compares natural wavy, loose wavy, natural curly and loose curly side by side.

Natural Raw Curls vs Processed Curls

The biggest question to ask any curly hair vendor is whether the curl pattern is natural or created. Both can be sold honestly, as long as the vendor tells you which one you are getting. The table below summarises the differences.

How to Test a Curly Hair Vendor’s Sample

Before you place a stock order, buy one or two bundles and test them the way your customers will use them. A sample tells you more than any product photo.

  1. Wash and air dry. Wash the sample with a gentle shampoo and conditioner, then let it dry without heat. Natural curls should form again on their own.
  2. Check the cuticle direction. Run your fingers from root to tip and back. Raw hair with aligned cuticles feels smooth one way and slightly rougher the other way.
  3. Look for mixed textures. Separate a few sections. If some strands are straight and others tightly curled, the bundle may be mixed.
  4. Pull along the weft. Run your fingers along the track. A little shedding is normal at first; a lot of loose hair is a warning sign.
  5. Check fullness at the ends. Single drawn hair tapers naturally, while double drawn hair stays fuller. Make sure what you receive matches what was described.
  6. Wear test. If possible, install the sample or wear it for a few weeks and see how the curls hold up with daily styling.

Questions to Ask Raw Curly Hair Vendors

Send these questions in writing before you pay. A vendor who works with curly hair every day should be able to answer each one clearly.

  • Is this curl pattern natural to the donor, or was it steamed or permed?
  • Which region is the hair from, South India or North India?
  • Is the line single drawn, double drawn or single donor ratio?
  • What is the weight of each bundle?
  • Is the weft single or double stitched?
  • Can you match closures and frontals to the same curl pattern?
  • Can you send unedited daylight photos or a video of my order before dispatch?
  • What is your minimum order, and can I mix curly, wavy and straight textures in one order?
  • Which couriers do you use, and how will I receive tracking?

For more on vetting suppliers and the difference between collectors, traders and makers, see our guides to raw hair suppliers and raw hair manufacturers.

Matching Bundles, Closures and Frontals

Curly installs often fail because the closure or frontal does not match the bundles. A bundle with a deep natural curl next to a closure with a looser, processed curl will look obvious. When you order, ask your vendor to match the texture of your closures and frontals to the bundles, and compare them side by side when the parcel arrives. If you build units, our HD wigs category and our guide to closure, frontal and U-part wigs can help you plan.

Loose bulk hair is another option for braiding and custom work. Ask your vendor whether curly bulk hair is available in the texture you need.

Caring for Curly Hair So Customers Come Back

Even the best raw curly hair needs the right care. Sharing simple care instructions with your clients helps the curls last and protects your reputation. Our product pages state that our curly wefts can last up to 2 years with proper maintenance.

  • Detangle gently with fingers or a wide tooth comb, starting from the ends.
  • Use moisturising, sulphate-free products and avoid heavy build-up.
  • Let the hair air dry where possible and keep heat styling to a minimum.
  • Store the hair loosely or braided, never tightly packed, to protect the curl pattern.

South Indian vs North Indian Curly Hair

Region matters when you choose curly hair. On our About page we describe our South Indian hair as raw virgin hair and our North Indian hair as standard Remy hair, carefully processed to maintain uniformity. In our range, the natural curly wefts are South Indian raw hair, while the loose curly and kinky curly wefts are North Indian Remy. Our guide to South Indian raw vs North Indian Remy hair explains the differences, and you can browse the South Indian raw hair wefts and North Indian virgin hair wefts categories.

FAQs

What should I look for in a curly hair vendor?

Look for a vendor who tells you clearly whether the curl is natural or processed, sorts hair by curl pattern, matches closures and frontals to bundles, and is willing to send unedited photos or videos of your actual order.

Is raw Indian curly hair naturally curly?

Some Indian hair grows naturally wavy or curly, especially hair from South India. Other curly hair on the market is straight hair that has been steamed or permed. Always ask your vendor which type you are buying.

How can I tell if curly hair has been permed?

Wash a sample and let it air dry. Natural curls usually return with slight variation between strands, while permed curls can look very uniform at first and loosen over time. A coated or overly silky feel can also be a sign of processing.

How long does raw curly hair last?

It depends on the hair and on care. Our curly weft product pages state that the hair can last up to 2 years with proper maintenance, including gentle detangling and minimal heat.

Can I order curly hair wholesale with other textures?

Ask your vendor about mixing textures. At Indian Raw Hair Vendor, you can list the textures, lengths and quantities you need on our wholesale page, and we confirm availability and pricing for your order.
